Sessions
As your athlete prepares for camp, many parents are also wondering how this moment fits into the bigger picture of college admissions—especially for academically rigorous colleges and universities.
To support you, College Masters is offering a Parent Education Series led by nationally respected college counselors, with inside insights from collegiate athletics. These sessions are designed to bring clarity to a process that often feels confusing and overwhelming.
1
Start Smart
This session offers a candid look at how student-athletes are evaluated by both coaches and admissions offices at academically rigorous colleges and universities. We’ll walk through recruiting timelines, the limits of coach influence, and how academics and athletics intersect in real admissions decisions.
The goal is to help families focus their time, expectations, and resources where they truly matter.
Parents will leave understanding:
-
How admissions offices evaluate student-athletes
-
What coaches can influence—and where that influence stops
-
How academics and athletics intersect in decision-making
-
Where families most often misjudge competitiveness and options
This session will be held on-site on Day 1 of camp during the lunch break. Lunch will be available to parents during the session and meals for players will be available for purchase.
2
Aiming High
Strong grades and test scores are often assumed to be enough—until they aren’t. This session focuses on the realities of highly selective colleges and universities. Families gain insight into how elite admissions really works and how students can be positioned authentically and thoughtfully.
Through in-depth discussion with admissions experts and a former college coach, parents leave with a deeper understanding of the current selective admissions landscape.
Parents will leave with insight into:
-
How highly selective colleges evaluate student-athletes
-
Why storytelling, context, and positioning matter at the top end
-
Common myths about Ivy-level and elite admissions
-
Ivy league and NESCAC schools
This one-hour session will be held at 5:30pm on Day 1 on camp. Drinks & light bites will be provided at this parents-only event.
